The central attraction of the Bicol Region is the world’s near perfect cone of the Mayon Volcano in Albay which stands majestically at 7,946 ft. from the broad base of about 10km. in radius. Nestling on the eastern slope of Mt. Mayon at an altitude of 2,700 is an excellent summer resort, the Mayon Skyline. Popularly known as “Heaven on Earth,” it has an almost similar temperature with Baguio at 28 degrees Celsius. Be enchanted by the deadly allure of the famous ruins of the Cagsawa Church where more than a thousand people sought sanctuary in their religious faith, however died still, when the Mayon erupted in 1814. Move to the town of Camarines Norte and you’ll be astounded by its clean white sand beaches, underground caves, waterfalls, historic shrines and parklands. Lake Buhi in Camarines Sur where the world’s smallest edible fish can be found is very inviting with its serene waters and scenic view. When in Sorsogon, visit the Bulusan National Park where the Bulusan Lake, dubbed as the “Switzerland of the Orient” is located. Here, you wouldn’t miss to see the crawling giant in the middle of a forest land, Mt. Bulusan which is towering at 5,077 feet above sea level. Make time for a trip to Masbate to see the Botongan Cave, Underground River and Underwater Cave (Claveria) and the long stretch of pristine beaches in Virac.
